Hi,
Recently I wanted to do some cleanup in my storage so I've started to delete some datastores from vsphere.
After all the VM's were migrated to another storage, I browsed each of the old datastores and found some unrecognized folders and vmdk files.
All the folders had names like: host-694-lkakwsgokx and inside had 1 logs folder and one vmdk file by the name cos.vmdk or cos-flat.vmdk.
Any way to alter those vmdk files (move, delete, rename, etc.) failed with the error: Unable to open file ...
Since I have almost 400 VM's running, it can take days to check all the running VM's and see who those files belongs to.
Is there a way that I can find out quicly who owns those vmdk files or how can safetly delete those files?
Thanks.
Very good link explain how to manage unused space and temp file
