Do I need to shut-down all VM's when enabling EVC and AMD Opteron Gen. 3 (no 3DNow) mode.

We have a cluster of older Dell PowerEdge servers, we need to introduce some newer Dell server hardware into the cluster (same CPU family etc).  The newer hardware does not support 3DNow so we need to use EVC to disable it.

The thing I am struggling with is do I need to shut-down all VM's to enable EVC in this case.     EVC will not be disabling any newer features, but rather disabling an older feature.  I understand VM's pick-up the CPU mask on power-on.

Any advice would be appreciated.
