One of the disadvantages i can think of is that When there is a storage vMotion happening you cannot determine the source and destination hosts.
And you cannot stop it once it is starts. If you have specific placement datastores like some datastores may be coming from better storage compared to others and you want your VM's to sit there. In that case there's no use os SDRS i feel.
