My physical vCenter server is quite old, and I'm moving it to new hardware. I've found the instructions to move the vCenter database and the Update Manager migration tool.
The thing is that this installation has been around for quite some time. We haven't had any issues with it, but it's been through the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1, then to 5.0 and I'm wondering if I might be better off rebuilding vCenter from scratch.
I have Veeam monitoring performance, so I'm not worried about losing that data.
The vCenter instance runs 5 ESXi 5.0 hosts that use a Dell Equallogic SAN for shared storage. I manage network connections on the hosts individually, in other words I'm not using the distributed switch.
The environment is pretty static, and the only configuration changes from the standard build are the Dell Equallogic Virtual Storage Manager, the Update Manager, Dump Collector, and Syslog redirection.
What would you do in my position?
