About a month ago, we had a server that was migrated from one datastore to another. It is a fairly large VM and it errored out with an general error "A general system error occurred: Migration failed while copying data"
This in itself is not too uncommon, I have had other large VMs fail when migrating them so I thought nothing of it. So I shutdown the virtual machine and then moved it, restarting it when it was completed.
According to the task view in vCenter, everything else worked no problem, however we just now realized that when the server was booted up, it thought it was mid November! Every log file, every system log jumps from mid-November to mid-February... Just as if it had reverted to a snapshot.
Looking through the Task list, I can't see anyone choose to "Revert snapshot", and I though the system wouldn't even let you to try a Datastore migration if there was a snapshot?
Is this a normal, or know problem? I have performed 100's of datastore migrations without a problem.
Thanks
Bob
