I am running Virtual Center 5.5 and Esxi 5.5. I need a really high available solution. I setup Fault Tolerance.
I am running on IBM blades. I am limited to three physical nic cards. I set up with three virtual switches each with their own physical nic. One switch is dedicated for Management traffic and VMotion. The second nic is dedicated for virtual Machine traffic and the third is dedicated for Fault Tolerance traffic. I have two physical CISCO switches. The management and FT switches are on the Fault Tolerance nics are on switch A and the VM Network is on switch B.
If I pull the Ethernet cable from the VM switch the VM does not fail over to a different esxi host. If I pull the management or Fault Tolerance cables they do.
Do I have this designed wrong? I thought that the FT and VM should be on different dedicated physical NIC. Shouldn't virtual center see that the VM is not pingable and fail it over to a different esxi host in the cluster?
Thanks,
