I actually did reboot it about a half hour ago. I can say the "Starting Task" issues have disappeared but I'm running out of non-production VMs to upgrade tools and hardware on. I'll need to schedule an after hours maintenance window to move further so it might not be until the weekend.
One of the issues I bumped into after installing the tools upgrade from the legacy client was that my Ethernet adapters didn't work until I manually ran a repair install of the tools again. These are all 2008 R2 VMs with VMXNET3 adapters. I also had to go back and re-IP everything so I'm concerned that I'll have to do this for ALL of my VMs. If that's the case I'm going to have quite a job on my hands that will never fit into a single maintenance window.
