Resource Allocation in vSphere Clinet - max consumed

I am preparing to upgrade our vCenter to 5.5. 

I was logged into the client and I decide to check the resources.

I have 8GB allocated to vCenter for 5.1 and it is running ok.

This is a small dev environment with 10-12 VMs.

So, I noticed on the Resource Allocation tab that the consumed memory is more than allocated. 

It shows 8.06 GB.  The active is shown is 655  MB.  (See screen).

Any idea why the consumed is over the 8 GB limit?

My plan is to increase the vCenter VM to 13 GB for the 5.5 upgrade.
