So this is why . If you are not able to ping your host you cannot add it using hostname. You can edit your hosts file and add your ESX. so go into C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc Then edithosts file...

This is what I was asking earlier, because any DNS configuration I put together nothing worked. Ok, that worked I can ping the name now. I'll try to add this by name again tonight.
