Re: Force Client Integration Plugin in Google Chrome

Hi Roman,

You could follow the steps below to install and enable Client Integration Plugin.

1. Change security settings of local intranet to low.

2. Add vCenter server certificates to the trusted Root Store.

3. Install with administrator permissions.

You would have to perform the changes on the Internet Explorer as the Chrome is integrated and uses the settings from IE.

Yes, restart the deployment again. It only takes a few minutes. You must have functional DNS and NTP to successfully complete the vCSA deployment.

Re: vMotion not showing available hosts

Hello.

I am running into the same issue since upgrade to 6.5. On some VMs (same host) I am able to vMotion to another host. Other are not working!

So far the only "trick" which helps is to click on "open console" and close it. Afterwards I am able to vMotion to another host for this VM. Seems like a bug!

Behavior in Flash and HTML5  version is the same...

Any advises?

Thx

I looked at that article and it says that it's pyurpose is for when the ?Inventory Service failes to start. However, our Inventory Service is started OK, yet vSphere Web Client still shows the Unable to connect error.

So I have not reset the Inventory database as I didn't think the article applied in our situation. What do you think ?

Re: Migrate from Windows vCenter 6.5 to VCSA 6.5

Hi all

We do have the scenerio where we have a source Windows vCenter 6.5 GA and want to have the linux appliance BUT as you now the most recent one is still 6.5 U1 so no chance at the moment based on the migraiton assistant (not supported message).

1) is there no chance is it?

2) how does the manual migraion look like? Do you have a manual on this topic?

3) Should we rather wait for a new majour release? Do we know when this is going to be releaed?

Cheers and thanks

Not at this moment, no.

You might want to read my article in which I cover this subject here.

3) Should we rather wait for a new majour release? Do we know when this is going to be releaed?

That's up to you, although there may not be an appliance migration path until the next release of vSphere.

Hi

Do you  know if the manual process creates new IDs for the VMs?

We do have a Citrix XenDesktop environment which points to the VMs as well as a Veeam Backup Software.

With Veeam it is a bit of a problem ..... as soon as the ID changes it creates new backup files (which I totally understand due to the ID reference), we know that there is a tool to apply the same IDs again but our experience shows that there are something around 10% of VMs which are not able to change the ID accordingly.....

So maybe creating a new VCSA with 6.5 U1 and configure all settings in advance as well as applay IDs with the Veeam tool and manually is not much more effort than doing the manual migraiton. What do you think?

Cheers and thanks for the really fast answer

Yes, a swing migration like what I outline generates new IDs (MoRefID) and I point that out in the article. Veeam has a tool as you noted which can re-map these IDs, and I have not seen it work on some but not all VMs. Ultimately it comes down to you and your environment as to your decision to perform a migration. If those things I mention are deal breakers, then you'll probably want to wait for the next version that'll offer the ability for you to perform an upgrade to get to the appliance.

menu > Settings > Show advanced settings > Content settings. Under the Flash section, click “Manage exceptions”.

You’ll see a list of websites that you’ve either given permission to run Flash, or prevented from running Flash. To revoke Flash permissions from a website and set it back to click to play mode, click the “x” button to delete the website from this list or change its behavior back to “Ask” using the dropdown box.

I have the exact same issue on 6.0 U3.

Did you find a resolution in the end andreir?

Re: vCenter vsphere-client service fails with Java memory error

Unfortunately I was unable to resolve it with 6.0 version. I had a lot of third-party plugins in the vCenter (this was a lab), I suspect one was leaking memory. My solution was to upgrade to 6.5.

you must generate the alarm through the web client not from the vsphere client.

Template sharing in different environment

$

Hi ,

We have 3 Env DMZ , Test and prod .. I am looking for a best way to share my VM Templates across these environment .

How can i make central place where i upload my all data and all vcenters can access that  ?

any help

Re: Template sharing in different environment

You can either use the Content Library if you're on vSphere 6.x, or you can use a central NFS export and store all your templates there. Such a "utility" datastore can then be mounted by all ESXi hosts across all vCenters.

Re: Template sharing in different environment

To use content library .. all Vcenter should communicate with each other right ??

But we have DMZ , so DMZ vecenters can not communicate with other env vcenters .

For NFS ..I am not sure but , does this also have same restrictions ??

For Content Library, yes, the subscribing libraries would need to be able to contact the source library. For NFS, all ESXi hosts must be able to contact the same NFS mount. Otherwise, you'll have to use a replication technology to reach your DMZ environment.
