I recently downloaded the vSphere ESXi 5.5 evaluation ISO the vSphere Client .exe file and the vCenter Server 5.5.0b and modules ISO. I was able to install the ESXi on my HP Proliant DL360 G5 host server in my home lab with no problems. I was also able to install vSphere Client.exe on my client machine with no problems. Using the vSphere Client I was able to connect to my ESXi host and create tow VMs with no problem. At this point I am able to access the host and the two VMs using the vSphere client without any issues.
I then install the vCenter Server on one on the VMs I then use the vSphere Web Client to connect to the vCenter with no problems. I then create a Datacenter with the Web Client with no problems.
My problems start when I try to add the host and the two VMs I get a message saying the licenses are expired and so I am unable to add my host to vCenter. I don't understand why vCenter is not allowing me to add the host because of the license because I thought the evaluation licenses were good for 60 day. I just install the vCenter Server today and should have at least 50 plus more days before it expires.
As I go through the process to add a new host I can see where the Web Client discoverers the host but it's not being added to the Web Client inventory because of the expired license problem.
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this issue. Thanks much.
