Is this vSphere 6.0 or 6.5? You'll want to look in /var/log/vmware/vpxd/vpxd.log to see if there's any indication why vCenter is taking so long to start.

Agreed. This might be likely the cause.In addition, if you migrate both CPU and Storage on the next screen it is showing info about attached devices..This way you can edit the VM hardware settings...
