Re: cannot add a host

Above mentioned KB is applicable for only 60U1,if you are not running that version then issue could be something else.

In order to get the better understanding of the issue, please mention the build number of vCenter you are running and also attach the vsphere-client logs which can be found at "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMWare\vCenterServer\logs\vsphere-client\logs".

This problem has bugged me for years.  It would be so easy for VMware to fix.  Just update the registry entry at shutdown instead of startup.  But because it's the thick client, they're not going to do it.  My theory is that it's VMware implicitly telling their remaining thick client addicts to get with the program and start using that inferior web client.

Vcenter server Memory and CPU spiked

Vcenter server 5.5.0.43013 on a win server 2012 r2 w/2cpu and 16gb mem

Nothing in event logs and cannot seem to locate the actual C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs\vpxd.log file

I've edited the WRAPPER.CONF in this loc and rebooted server  C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Inventory Service\conf  <- same thing with cpu and mem spiked.

Disk space is good on client as well as database with no locks. Now when I say spiked it is intermittent and cause is that we cannot log into the web client.

Log into vcenter server using http://<vcenter-server-fqdn>:5480

check overall health , if its not good i.e warning or error then do following

Log-in to vcsa (appliance ) enable shell and run "df -h"

if any of the disk partition is 100% then follow VMware KB

vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 services fail due to 100% usage of /storage/seat disk (2119809) | VMware KB

Another KB if you fail to execute Postgres commands due to space issue as part of cleanup.

Increasing the disk space for the VMware vCenter Server Appliance in vSphere 6.0 (2126276) | VMware KB

If its due to space issue it should be solved.

I had this same issue.

I used this command to see EXACT case:

     /usr/lib/vmware-vmdir/bin/vdcrepadmin -f showpartners -h vc02.seha.com -u administrator

result was:

     ldap://PSC02-1.seha.com

The command that failed started like this:  cmsso-util reconfigure --repoint-psc psc02-1.seha.com...

The command that worked started like this:  cmsso-util reconfigure --repoint-psc PSC02-1.seha.com...

In Web Client also you can see the list of all the scheduled tasks at one place.

Navigate to below path to do so.

Select a "vCenter Server",

Right side click on "Monitor" --->"Task and Events" --->"Scheduled Tasks".

Errors after migrate vcenter 6 Windows for VCSA 6.5

Sirs, I configured my vCenter 6.0 Windows Server, for the VCSA 6.5, most current build. The migration process has been smooth, but vCenter is experiencing some strange instabilities.
One of them is that at certain times vCenter informs that it can not load some configurations.
The other is that every 2 or 3 minutes, the vCenter disconnects and connects on the hosts, thing of 2 seconds, suddenly the hosts appear as disconnected, then as connected, I already researched and found nothing. I got to use this KB, but unsuccessfully http://bit.ly/2q9ZW1P.
See attached images.

Do friends have any light?

Thank you !

Re: vsphere appliance log size

I would similarly like an answer to this question.

When the /storage/log directory fills, it brings down everything, and I haven't seen any alert or notification when it gets close to full.

The biggest consumer of space on mine are in /storage/log/vmware/perfcharts:

-rw-------  1 perfcharts users  39M May 13 13:35 java_pid45593.hprof

-rw-------  1 perfcharts users 392M May 11 23:23 java_pid22560.hprof

-rw-------  1 perfcharts users 742M May 10 01:10 java_pid757.hprof

-rw-------  1 perfcharts users 742M May 11 01:33 java_pid58499.hprof

-rw-------  1 perfcharts users 742M May  3 02:09 java_pid56961.hprof

Any idea what these are, or if I can delete old ones manually so I can get the web clients to start?
